Did you know that Bacolod’s Famous Aida’s Manokan has a branch in Manila?
Just recently, Bacolod’s food spot Manokan Country, home to numerous chicken inasal eateries, particularly the tourist favorite, Aida’s Manokan was ordered to shut down as enforced by the local government to make way for a P4-billion redevelopment project by SM Prime Holdings Incorporated (SMPHI).
As Bacolodnons currently grieve the closure of their food heritage site, there is still news to celebrate: there’s an Aida’s Manokan branch open and its right here in Manila.
Located in the basement of Makati Central Square (formerly Makati Cinema Square) is Aida’s Chicken House. The eatery continues to make the same chicken inasal goodness just like it’s sister restaurant in Bacolod. Loyal customers of the branch usually consist of business workers in neighboring buildings and frequent shoppers in Makati’s commercial landmark.
Compared to the Manokan country branch, the Makati branch is air-conditioned and offers a wider range of Ilonggo dishes with servings good for two people. Must-tries include the Ilonggo-style Paella Valencia that is perfect for celebrations, the lip-puckering Kansi available in two ways: pata or beef shank, and the Special Stuffed-Chicken Inasal. They also sell specialty bottled goods like sinamak or spiced Illonggo vinegar and spicy bagoong.
Of course, best-seller remains to be their signature chicken inasal available in assorted chicken pieces such as petso (rib part), paa (thigh and leg), and pakpak (wings) that’s served with garlic fried rice, a side of eggplant ensalada and soup. The meal is best eaten with a spicy soy-vinegar-calamansi dip and a generous drizzling of chicken oil, which by the way they also sell in bottles.
During the pandemic, Aida’s Chicken House focused their services on food deliveries, which is still being offered through food delivery apps like Food Panda and Grab.
So, for those craving for Aida’s char-grilled chicken inasal you can still have your fix in Aida’s Chicken House in Makati Central Square along Chino Roces Avenue. For direct orders contact (0950) 160 7693.
