Last May, Comida China de Manila, one of the metro’s beloved Chinese food spots sadly announced its closure after more than 26 years in its Pasig location, which was in the FRDC Building along C5. Loyal customers made last-minute pilgrimages and numerous take aways of their classic dishes weeks before it closed doors for good. Afterwards, the only place people could enjoy their old school Chinese cuisine was if they traveled all the way to Pampanga where its twin resto, The Red Rickshaw Restaurant was still open.
But just a few days ago, the old-school panciteria announced its come back, and with a lovely bonus as well. In a Facebook post made by Joey Santos, Comida China De Manila will be opening again, this time at the ground floor of S&R Libis, which is just a few kilometers away or about a little more than 30 minutes from its previous location. What’s also incredible is that Mom and Tina’s, its sister restaurant, will also be opening a branch nearby.
People can finally breathe a sigh of relief now that they can eat their Comida China De Manila favorites within Manila. Known for their Old Chinatown cuisine specialties like Comida China Chow Mein, Camaron Rebasado de Jamon, and Fried Shrimp Balls, La Comida has always been a constant favorite especially for their customers who go to them for weekly diners, special family gatherings, as well as other celebratory functions. Plus, with the opening of its sister restaurant nearby, people can continue to enjoy Mom and Tina’s decadent treats after a sumptuous Chinese dinner at La Comida. Now that’s a happy ending!
