Spread the love

Written by Ina Louise Manto

While we miss the morning coffee runs near our office or simply lounging in cafes, going for a drive around your city or to a nearby spot is one of the best (and safest) ways to get a change of scenery after being cooped indoors for a long time. Over the past years several roadside cafes have opened near and inside the metro, including these must-visit spots:

After going viral on social media in 2020, Muni Coffee has become a new attraction in Kalayaan, Laguna, serving quality Benguet-sourced coffee to locals, bikers, and tourists who wish to have the roadside experience. With painted grey walls, it’s not difficult to spot this minimalist cafe where you can enjoy a variety of drinks for less than PHP 100. To avoid producing more waste, they even serve their to-go drinks in containers made from milk cartons!

Location: Longos, Kalayaan, Laguna (National Highway)

Brew & Bakes (Silang, Cavite)

Going for a drive to Tagaytay? Brew & Bakes is a new container café located just along the Tagaytay-Sta. Rosa Road and you’re not the only one that’s in for a treat when you visit. It’s located in Honk Up Garage Auto Spa; you can have your vehicle pampered as you chill at the cafe’s cozy rooftop. You can choose from different espresso, macchiato, and Americano drinks or try something new with their Pink Drink or Nut-a-Frappe. For those with a sweet tooth, pair your coffee with a slice of velvety cheesecake or their pastries! If you’re up for a savory dish, you can enjoy an all-day breakfast menu next door at The 7267, their sister restaurant.

Location: Barangay Pasong Langka, Sta. Rosa Road, Silang, Cavite

Some of their must-try drinks include Dolce Latte, Caramel Macchiato, and Caffè Mocha.

Inarawan Café also began as a pop-up coffee stand until finding homes in two locations: one in Marikina City and another in Cainta, Rizal. In case you can’t drive to Batangas to get a cup of Kapeng Barako, you can get the chance to have it at Inarawan! They’ve already sold more than 12,000 cups of coffee three months since they opened – Inarawan’s definitely building patrons around the metro.

Locations: Barangay Conception Uno, Marikina City and Block 2 Lot 2 Countryside Drive, Vista Verde Country Homes, Brgy. Sto. Domingo, Cainta, Rizal.

The Coffee Kotse (Alaminos, Laguna)

Nestled in Lipa-Alaminos Road, the shortcut you usually take from Lipa to Alaminos, Laguna, The Coffee Kotse doesn’t only serve you great coffee but also a relaxing view of the mountains. If you’re taking the shortcut and spot a green tent with a parked car, it’s probably them!

Location: Lipa-Alaminos Road, Alaminos, Laguna.

Typica Coffee (Taytay, Rizal)

No need to apply for a visa and tickets to Japan – you can have live out your Japanese minimalist café experience dreams at Typica Coffee in Taytay. Even their menu has Japanese translations! Boasting minimalist wood and white interiors, the shibui style cafe was actually a former sari-sari store. You can enjoy a variety of drinks at Typica: from brewed coffee to a sweet cup of caramel macchiato. Pair your drinks with must-try pastries too, such as their Hokkaido Cheese Tart and Chocolatey Brownies.

Location: 72 E. Rodriguez Avenue, Barangay San Isidro, Taytay, Rizal
